Hey just wanted anyones thought on whether i had too many characters in my fantasy idea.Or even if you could think of another personality i could throw in there.
Also i'd love it if you had any fantasy sounding names you could give for any characters?

MC. More serious mercenary who struggles between good and bad side of a war after death of loved one.

Girl who falls for MC.lives in a village and is affectionate and cheery.

Man and woman teamed as assasins for the mercenary camp.both luck on bright side of life and see possitives in everything

Another man woman pairing who betray the first assasins team

Paranoid fearful king

War hungry general

Vengeful male spirit hell bent on killing everything

RE: enough?

For a movie you generally want to focus on 3-4 main characters -- definitely a Protagonist and a Nemesis, probably a Reflection and a Love Interest.

Everyone else should be secondary.

In a novel you have the room to include lots of other characters and subplots. But in a movie, it's hard to keep track of too many characters b/c the movie is only a couple hours long. The more characters you have the more you lose the focus on the MC and his story.

Of course it could be an ensemble piece (but even then there's usually a focus on one or two who stand out more than the others)

Think of a fantay movie you really like. How many *main* characters are there? how many characters do we follow throughout the story?

RE: enough?

well the MC needs the two good assassins [i'l call them for now] to further his story along later into it because his kinda stops but they would bring it back to a more focal point so thats why theyre pretty important. Also the ones i named would be in the first story. [I'm trying to make it into three parts] so for example the war hungry general would be gone by the second and the king would be as good as gone. And maybe i'd add in or kill off one or two minor characters at different points throughout the three scripts all going well.
