Need some help....

Hi,

I'm an actor living in New York, and I recently wrote my first screenplay. Long story shot is it turned out really well. I showed it to a few of my friends in the business, and I got some amazing feed back on it.

However, one of the things they told me is that I'd have to reformat it before they showed it to some of their higher-ups. They gave me a couple scripts to look at as a template, and it looks like I have a lot more work ahead of me.

I wrote it in Microsoft Word. Am I going to have to go back and reformat everything by hand, or is there a good software program I can use to do it? You think it would be worth buying Final Draft?

And is there a reference where I could find out what the industry standards are for margins, etc?

I apologize if this has already been answered, but I'm terrible with searching websites and forums. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

At http://www.celtx.com/ you can download free screenwriting software for Windows, Mac or Linux.

There are some modifying templates available for Word, but a program like Celtx or Final Draft will automatically format your script so it has the right margins, alignments and font.
