Is this even plausible?

Hey everyone!
I've been nursing my idea for my script since shortly after last year's Screnzy, but have recently had some major doubts about it. I want to know what you all think--whether this would even work out or not.
Basically, it's a humorous musical about the stresses of Screnzy. A girl (the Authoress) is participating in Screnzy, where she is attempting to write a tribute to her favorite Broadway musicals. The story alternates between the plot of her show (which is intentionally filled with plot holes, horrible songs, and characters who are almost exactly identical to characters of other Broadway shows) and "fourth-wall breakage" scenes where the author engages in arguments with her characters. I have no idea as of yet how it ends. Do you guys think this will be too confusing or that having characters similar to those of other musicals is unacceptable? Please tell me what you think!

RE: Is this even plausible?

I like it, but then again, I'm a horribly complicated person who likes horribly complicated things.

No offense.

RE: Is this even plausible?

I don't know if you know this but this send almost parallel to [title of show] or maybe I just try to make everything parallel. Just thought its something you might want to know about. On a brighterside [title of show] has been fairly sucessful =]

RE: Is this even plausible?

It *is* kinda like title of show, but title of show was a lot like CITY OF ANGELS, which was a lot like... well, you get the idea.

My only suggestion: dont revolve it around Screnzy. Trust me: Broadway is screwy enough that if you made this a show-in-the-birthing-pangs situation, you'd find a wider audience. The thing I'd work to avoid is comparisons to SPRINGTIME FOR HITLER, which is the show-within-a-show that was part of THE PRODUCERS and that film's search for a show so bad "it'll close on page three". In your case, it sounds like the authoress is writing something bad but thinks it's great: okay, so why are the producers picking it up and rushing it into production? One possibility is that it's a star vehicle of some kind, and the lead is pushing ideas that everyone but her/him know will *never* work... but everyone goes along with it because s/he's the "star", and the star LOVES what your authoress is creating.

RE: Is this even plausible?

It could work. My NaNo novel was the diary of a NaNoWriMoer this year, and the story she was trying to write.

Just be careful. Writing isn't the only thing that happens during a month of writing. There's angst, too.

I really like the idea, it sounds intricate but fun!
