What's Your Style?

Every person who writes lyrics or composes music for a musical has a different style of writing, and every musical has a different style of music.

For example: all the songs in Spring Awakening are interior monologues, whereas the songs in The Music Man are sung to the other characters in the show.

My question for you is: What is your musical writing style?

Me? Well, that's kind of difficult. Some of the songs I write are introverted and sung to the audience, while others are sung to other characters. Kind of a combo package, I guess. I also don't focus on rhyming as much in my songs, I just try to get the emotions across.

The clouds begin to thunder. Crickets wander, murmuring...All shall know the wonder, I will sing the song of Purple Summer.

RE: What's Your Style?

My style's very cabaret (style, not actual play) revue like. Most of the songs are to the audience although i'm experimenting with a few interior monologues between the two main characters. I haven't seen it done anywhere myself, so i'm oretty much having a stab in the dark!
