Anyone else doing an musical with a tragic theme? I admit, my main character is poisoned, his fiance leaves him, he goes insane, kills a good chunk of his hometown, is almost hanged, then dies from the effects of the poison. My villain dies when his plan for a Pit and the Pendulum style torture goes awry. The romance is convoluted and ends terribly. Most people probably hear the word 'musical' and think of something happy or comedic, but I can't be the only one doing this.
