Imagine me thinking this is in June.

Well, that's the reality of it...
I actually thought this was in June, so I signed up today, thinking that I'd be early and not noting the bold deadline at the top of the page, and I finally looked around and saw it was APRIL.

I can say that I've died inside a bit... But that's okay - I have a script idea that I'm working on which I have a vision of writing either 15 or 20 pages for. At the mo', it's staying at 15 pages.

Anyone feel like telling me that I'm a fool/crazy/really just a funny being to be doing this?

I passed up ScriptFrenzy last year, and looks like I missed it this year... The playwright gods have it in for me.

Anywho - does anyone feel my pain? Or something of it? Or have any funny stories to share, just 'cause I'm stuck at home, sick, trying to plug out five to ten more pages?

Canada -- Alberta -- Edmonton

Validation

So I don't know why, but this year the Script Frenzy people want us converting our scripts to pdf before uploading it to the their magical counter. It wasn't as hard for me. I use Word Perfect and it has this option of changing which word processing program to use. So I switched to Microsoft Word then clicked on the pdf icon (publish to pdf), saved, then uploaded it to the counter.

So yes, if you've won already, don't forget to validate!

Ideas for Script Frenzy party?

Hey, so I don't know, but I was just thinking about a TGIO party for Script Frenzy. It would probably be small since there aren't many of us. I was thinking Denny's or Boston Pizza. Boston Pizza because they have Jambalaya Fettucini and if nobody's able to come and I'm the only one there, then I get have Jambalaya Fettucini :D LOL. Also they don't take reservations and have this fear about calling restaurants (or, er, anybody) but I can always conquer that fear by imagining Sarah's voice in my head like Obi-Wan Kenobi's..."I have faith in you Arnold, keep swimming, damn those hippos!"

I know everyone's busy though, me included. This week's been busy for me because my boss is away for a week, and yeah, I'm in charge. After the 19th I'll have my life back :D.

So yes, nothing is set in stone yet, and it's still early. If you have other ideas just toss them in, or maybe we'll just have the party in the chat room :D lol. My best days are Sunday evening or Saturday evening.

Keep writing those scripts for those still writing!

Ben's play

Okay, so this is sort of a plug, but it is Script Frenzy related!! Some of you may know Ben from Nanowrimo, also known as KibBen. He is in a play at the Teens at the turns festival at the Citadel. The play is called Ice: beyond cool and I just saw it last night which kind of sucks because I just realized this morning I could've made that some kind of Script Frenzy field trip or something. It does cost $10 to warn you if you're strapped for cash.

If your interested it's at the Rice Theatre and showtimes are April 22nd and April 24th at 7:30pm; and then Sunday April 27th at 1:30pm. PM for more info. I have no idea how to get there by car because I'm a bus person.

But yes, as well as a good play, it's also good script frenzy research :D!

Slumps

I wasn't sure what to call this thread. So anyway, my original plan of finishing my Script before Saturday went out the window because I got sick on Thursday morning :(. Okay, yes, I'm crazy, but I did have a good reason for wanting to finish so early. I have so much stuff going on this month (or at least it feels like it) that I wanted to get the script over and done with. So I haven't written for 3 days, 4 on Sunday, but I am starting to feel better now and on Monday I'm getting back on that horse and write again.

Anybody else going through a slump? Writer's block? Work or family interference? Vent away! :D (then go back to working on that script!)

Anyone Frenzying?

So, hey, Script Frenzy is apparently in April now! Anyone doing it? I haven't thought up a good idea yet but if I do, I will.

Chat room!

The awesome Edmowrimo chatroom, #edmontonwrimos on irc.goodchatting.com, will again be active, with the word war bot, BattleJesus, again active and graciously provided by the talented and attractive mat. Woohoo! This chatroom is the pathway to victory for many of us - we are always having word wars, getting to know each other, and egging each other on to glory!

We do have access with a java channel, for those of you using public computers and unable to download and install anything, but if at all possible we ask that everybody who is able to download their own IRC client. There are several reasons for this: 1) It streamlines everything, and opens up a lot more for you as far as what you're able to do, and 2) it's more courteous, as otherwise with the way things are right now you will have to piggy back off the java client that is hosted by Julie, the admin for Goodchatting, which means more strain on her servers, which we want to avoid if we can.

There are innumberable options for accessing IRC, which stands for Internet Relay Chat. The most popular for windows users is the venerable mIRC, which is a free program, with the option to donate to the project. Your first thirty days are completely unlimited, but after that there is a short waiting period while the program displays a little dialogue letting you know that the thirty days are over, and inviting you to make a donation. Just wait a little while, and hit continue when the option is available. That can be downloaded at http://www.mirc.com. If you find that you like the program, and the IRC system, I reccomend donating - the programmers behind mIRC have been working on it for more then a decade, and it's a fantastic feat on their part. Support them!

For Mac users, especially first-time irc users, I reccomend Snak. (http://www.snak.com/Snak.html) I've never used it myself, but I've heard excellent things about it. Reference their website for more information.

If you are using firefox, there is also the handy and simple ChatZilla! which can be downloaded both from the Mozilla website, and from the developer's webpage at http://chatzilla.hacksrus.com/.

To connect to the channel, go to the server list and select the server Goodchatting. If it's not there, then add a new server by selecting the appropriate option for your chosen client. The server address is irc.goodchatting.com, and the port can be anything between 6660-6669. I personally use 6667, but unless you have a very secure firewall set up, then it shouldn't matter. Just allow the chosen port to access the internet when it asks, or add the port you chose to your firewall's allowed list. You're done!

The web link to use the program, if you can't get irc for whatever reason (on a public computer is the best example of this), is:
http://www.goodchatting.com/rooms/edmontonwrimos.php

If we're finding that we're missing each other all the time, we'll set up a meeting time to get writing. Otherwise, I'll see you guys there! Ask here or drop me a PM if you can't get it figured out. Whee!

Canada -- Alberta -- Edmonton

I lied

Yeah, I said I wasn't going to ML, but once I decided to do Script Frenzy, I figured what the hell, right? So here I am. Like a sucker! Plus Karen and Patrick and I have started talking NaNo '08 and I got all excited so I might as well Frenzy!

Anyway, this is such a small group that I think it'll be pretty low key. I'm mostly thinking that we should meet up in chat pretty regularly, but I'll try and organize a few other things if there's interest. Any requests? (In other words, this is the polar opposite of NaNo where we swoop in with a pre-determined schedule, so now's your chance!)
