An Excerpt from

MAX, CARLA and MAD SCIENTIST are sitting nervously around a big, shiny table. They wait. CARLA checks her watch. A small explosion is heard. They look at each other. The silence continues. MAX sneezes.

CARLA
It’s about time somebody sneezed.

MAX
Where is he? He should be here by now.

CARLA
Calm down. He’s only a little late.

MAX
What are we going to do? We’re going to be captured and eaten alive!

CARLA
No we’re not. Anyway, Guard #1 will save us. (Pause) Where is he anyway?

MAD SCIENTIST
He fell into a plot hole.

CARLA
Oh.

MAX
We’re doomed!

MAD SCIENTIST
It’s alright. It might take a couple of scenes, but he’ll find his way out.

MAX
A couple of scenes? The play could be over by then! We’re defenceless, the heroes are pounding at the door and [EVIL GENIUS] isn’t here!

Enter [EVIL GENIUS].

[EVIL GENIUS]
I’m here.
