INT. WEDDING AT CANAAN - EVENING
JESHUA, DISCIPLES and MARY are attending a wedding. Everyone has been eating and drinking for some hours, people are in high good spirits, including Jeshua and those with him. Someone tells a joke, and Jeshua laughs uproariously. He drains the rest of his goblet.
Behind them, there are some servants who are having a conference. Mary hearkens to what they are saying. The problem that the servants are trying to deal with is ebing discussed by more and more people. Finally, the steward comes over to them, and the servants tell him the problem.
MARY
Jeshua?
He barely glances over, continues talking to one of his disciples.
MARY
Jeshua...Wasn't it nice of them to invite us, you, me and all of your friends.
JESHUA
They're not my friends, Momma, they're my disciples.
MARY
(Smiles, is gently teasing him)
Oh... Your disciples.
The two look at each other for a moment.
JESHUA
Well?
MARY
Well what?
JESHUA
(sighs)
What is it?
MARY
What is what, my son? I mean, it's nothing, really.
JESHUA
Go on.
MARY
No, no, it's all right. It's nothing to concern yourself with.
JESHUA
Fine.
MARY
Fine.
JESHUA
Good.
(Turns back to the person he was talking to.)
As I was telling you-
MARY
-It's just that, they were nice enough and generous enough to invite you, me, your brothers, sisters, their families, and your friends -sorry- disciples, and now they're out of wine.
JESHUA
What does that have to do with me?
MARY
Oh, nothing. I just thought you might have some idea of how we can help them.
JESHUA
We?! Woman, what have I do to with you?
MARY
Where would you like to begin?
JESHUA
(Smiles, shakes his head)
Will there be anything else?
MARY
(Beckons to the servants, and speaks to them)
This is my son. You just do whatever he tells you to.
Jeshua, with a sigh gets up and walks over to the servants.
JESHUA
Where is the- never mind, I already know.
FOLLOWING SHOT: Jesus leads the servants outside. Against the wall are three large jugs used for water.
JESHUA
Here, fill these up.
The servants leave.
CUT TO OUTSIDE WEDDING
The servents pour the last bucket of water into the last jug. Jeshua has been leaning against the wall, his arms crossed, somewhat bored.
SERVANT
It's done, Jeshua ben Joseph.
JESHUA
Wonderful!
He pushes away from the wall, and goes to each of the jugs. Over each one, he prays briefly.
JESHUA
Give me a decanter, please.
One of the serants hads him a decanter. He dips it into the jug, and it comes out, there is wine running out of it. The servants are shocked.
JESHUA
Tell you what, take this to the steward and see what he thinks of it.
He hands it to one of them, who hesitates.
JESHUA
Go on!
He takes it from Jeshua.
JESHUA
Wait.
He takes two pitchers out of the hands of one of the servants, winks at him, fills them.
JESHUA
One more thing.
SERVANT
Yes?
JESHUA
These two are for the feast, and this last one, is for you and the other servants. Drink it, sell it, do with it what you will.
SERVANT
Thanks!
Jeshua nods, and goes back to the party.
JESHUA
(Enters with a flourish)
Hey!
Those in his party cheer.
FADE OUT:
