Dorothy and Joe have been married for fifty years. Everyone else has left their anniversary party. This is the last scene, near the end.
D: So where's our family, Joe? Huh? Where's our family?
J: I don't know what you mean.
D: The HELL you don't! You know exactly what I mean, you arrogant ...
J: We don't have that much family... left, Dotty... Not anymore...
D: And why Joe? Why did they leave, huh?
J: Dot, this is old history. We don't need to go over it again... for the thousandth time.
D: You know where they are, Joe! You know exactly. You know where they've been for 50 god damned years. We both know, Joe. They said don't marry her, Joseph. They said we'll disown you if you do. And what did you do? What did you do, Joe?
J: Honey, it was the happiest day of my life when I decided to ... do that! I walked out on a hell of a lot of money and a hell of a lot of support when I finally came to my senses and asked you to be my wife.
D: OK, Joe. That's the sanitized version. I've heard it for over 50 years now. You ready to tell the truth... instead?
J: But, Dot... That... that is the truth.
D: The hell it is! Think back, Joe. Try to recover the truth... the real truth... after all this time. Try to forget the lie, Joe. Try to remember what really happened...
