INT. TV SET
Production of an autopsy scene is underway for the sci fi
series "Dark Days". There are actors dressed as
investigators and doctors. The set and costumes are slightly
futuristic. The fake corpse has squishy prostheses hanging
out from an open chest wound. Jenna (in a futuristic cop
costume) is almost completely blocked to the camera by
LAURA, the show’s leading lady.

CORONER ACTRESS
(Leans on autopsy table,
distressed.)
I can’t explain it. I just can’t
explain it. It’s truly unlike
anything I’ve ever scene.

There is a long pause that makes the actors and crew
nervous. Laura (in professional but civilian costume) looks
dazed. Out of the shot, Jenna taps Laura with her night
stick that has an LED light on the end to look high tech.

LAURA
Um? Uh... There is one explanation
but as usual, I don’t think anyone
would believe it.

MAKEUP PERSON
(Whispering to director)
She needs way more cover up under
the eyes. I used a whole bottle.

JENNA
Whoa, Doc, you’re not saying... I
mean surely you don’t mean to tell
me that we’re talking about...
monsters?

LEADING MAN
(Swaying slightly and speaking
slow)
When are you all going to learn to
trust her instincts. She’s the best
paranormal consultant we have.

Laura starts swaying.

LAURA
Can we just cut... please... I’m
just gonna sit right here.

Laura grabs the autopsy table. Jenna tries to help her to a
chair as her legs wobble. Laura’s hand hits a rigged special
effect on the table which pops a little slimy animal up from
the fake guts. The leading man almost face plants into the
animal as he wretches. He manages to spin around, push past
Jenna and puke in a prop sink. Jenna struggles to hold up
both her co-stars up.

JENNA
Those cast parties are legend
aren’t they? Sorry I couldn’t make
it.

DIRECTOR
Cuuuuuuuuut! Can we just get the
stand-ins please. Stand-ins! Let’s
just get some reaction shots for
the next scenes.
