An Excerpt from Like Shooting Stars
Leonas smoothed the front of the tunic as he stood in front of the full-length mirror. He was in his best clothes. His tunic was bright with ribbon embroidery. The motif was repeated on his pants. He tied a bright tie at his own throat and grinned at the sight of himself.
Today was the day his country of Leituva would be joined by a treaty of union with the neighboring country of Lenkiya. It was a day that had been a long time coming. The treaty would mark the beginning of the preparation for the wedding between the rulers of the two countries as well.
Stories told of the beauty of the queen of Lenkiya. His king had told him of her intelligence, wit and charm. There was no mistaking his fondness for the girl he would soon wed. There was no doubt that this was a rare royal love match.
Leonas smiled to himself as he though about his own role in the coming union. As the spirit of Leituva, he would be formally joined with Henryk, the spirit of Lenkiya. A soft blush crept over his cheeks of the thought of a union with the proud and handsome warrior.
“A golden age,” he murmured before he stepped out into the corridor to join his beloved monarch at the ceremony.
