An Excerpt from The Harbinger
ZACK V.O.
It didn’t take long for the river to die. Most people assumed it would take decades, it took months. Things always happen that way. Life is never as long as you hope it will be. There is no guarantee of anything in this world.
A Falcon screams overhead. He flys low over Zack, then glides high into the air.
POV THE FALCON
The land is barren, no water in sight. Miles of emptiness are surround Zack.
ZACK V.O. (CONT’D)
Rivers, like people run into nothingness.
The twisted remains of pleasure boats and metal docks lay where they once floated buoyantly near the shore.
ZACK V.O. (CONT’D)
The things we count on, fail us.
The water marks still stain the banks, but they are faded and worn.
ZACK V.O. (CONT’D)
All that remain are the faded memories of a better place. One where life was right and good.
This place is all wrong. Another world far out of touch with the one we all know. It is dry and inhabitable, a wasteland.
