An Excerpt from

INT: HALLWAY - DAY

Sarah races through the school hallway, the sound of HOOFBEATS in her head as the world swims unsteadily in front of her. Sarah gasps as the sound of METAL CLANKING METAL signifies the beginning of a great battle that only she can see.

DISSOLVE TO:

INT: BATTLEFIELD - EVENING

For once Sarah's imaginary world is not idylic or beautiful. Stormy skies reign over a bloody battlefield. Sarah's white steed SNORTS and paws nervously at the ground, as her friends lift her bloody body off the ground. Sarah moans softly. Annalee looks down at her.

ANNALEE
You were very brave.

Sarah grimaces in pain.

CUT TO:

INT: SCHOOL BATHROOM - DAY

Sarah stares at her arms, cut up and bloody, and at the pair of sewing scissors lying next to her. She takes a deep breath and it shudders out of her. Annalee, in plain clothes again, sits next to her. Sarah stands up, pulls down her sleeves, and scrubs her face. She looks in the mirror.

SARAH
I was very brave.

Behind her, Annalee nods.
