An Excerpt from "Gnome Script". Just a working title...
Drile:
Gnomes of the forest dark and deep,
Awake now, and cast off your sleep.
From mosses and from mushrooms reap
And hold your lives no longer sheap.
E’en in the grasp of slumbers reign,
The gnomes have always need to deign
To death pretend and sickness feign
When mortals walk upon the lane.
But to you here we give a light
That mortals with the gnomes not fight
A beam to wipe out all the blight
We’ve done to you by causing fright.
[Exeunt Drile. Enter Gnomely, with Cobley.]
Gnomely: Forsooth, what is that yonder gleams so bright?
Cobley: it seems to be some scintillating light.
Gnomely: An omen great; what doth it mean?
Cobley: I’ll hasten back to tell our queen.
