An Excerpt from Buffy Begins
BUFFY, a small blonde teenage girl, walks down the alley. She wears a small backpack and is blowing gum bubbles.
BUFFY (V.O.)
Into every generation a Slayer is born: one girl in all the world with the strength and the skill to fight the vampires...
A VAMPIRE approaches Buffy from behind. Its forehead is bumpy, eyes yellow, teeth extra-pointy. It reaches out to attack her -
BUFFY (V.O.)
To stop the spread of their evil -
She grabs the vampire's arm and flips him forward.
BUFFY (V.O.)
- and the swell of their numbers.
The vampire is prone. Buffy casually pulls a WOODEN STAKE out of the back pocket of her jeans and spins it a la a gunfighter.
BUFFY (V.O.)
She is the Slayer.
She deftly drives the stake into the vampire's heart. It bursts into a cloud of dust. Visibly disgusted by the mess, she brushes the dust off of her clothes.
BUFFY (V.O.)
I'm her.
Buffy's face scrunches up with uncertainty.
BUFFY (V.O.)
She's me?
She's still not sure.
BUFFY (V.O.)
I'm she?
She shakes her head, blows another bubble.
BUFFY (V.O.)
Whatever. I'm getting ahead of myself.
The whole previous scene rewinds to its beginning, complete with that old VHS rewind noise.
